Many people equate STDs with immorality, promiscuous behavior, and low social status. This statement to me means that there are a lot of people who are not knowledgeable of the pathophysiology of disease. Just because you catch an STD doesn't mean your promiscuous. Some people don't know they have an STD and pass it on to others. Some people don't even know what an STD is. I do believe people can be more careful about their partners. Let's face it, no one has money to send everyone they are bedding down with to the clinic to be tested. That's why we need free testing for STDs. People can help by asking their partner about their sexualk history. This would help. We can't change the way people see others. All we can do is educate them. Overtime opinions will change. Education is key.

I totally agree with you. Its sad that many people think that if you get an STD your premiscuous. Many people want to label people who have STD's as nasty. The sad part is that many of these people aren't premiscuous. They weren't educated enought on prevention of STD's or they just made a stupid mistake. You are right we have got to educate espeacially the younger teens on STD's.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comments as well. Most people don't know what the symptoms could be or they may not feel/see them as well. I feel bad for people that catch a STD after their first time. Access to free testing and education would be a big step in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteI don't see many people being honest about their sexual history. I think it is mostly important to protect themselves, not matter who or how many they have slept with! Like you said...FREE TESTING!! I being a taxpayer would much rather put my money towards free community testing or education about STD's and pregnancy rather than paying the hospital bills for those that didn't protect themselves!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you being promiscous is not the only way you get STDS and people should not judge. I think that it is totally unfair to the people that do have it, it's not like they were looking or asking of it.
