Blog # 10

I think if women knew the actually number of women who get diagnosed and die from cancer and CVD, then they would take measures to prevent themselves from getting these diseases. A lot of time it takes someone close to them dying, before a person decides to make changes for the better. I know my children are a big influence for me to stay healthy and active. I don’t want them to grow up without a mother. If women knew the benefits of being cautious about their lifestyle and behavior, they would be more prone to live healthier. Everyone has a different way of being motivated.

  1. Educated about illness and preventable diseases will help motivate positive behavior to enhance quality of life. I do agree with you that it takes someone close dying before we are really serious about changing our life style. I was not serious about losing weight although i knew the consequences if i do not but when my family member got really sick i realize it was time to start execising.

  2. Sharon,

You are right that it usually takes some one close to you getting sick or dying before anyone decides to take control of their life. I know that has happened with me. I'm not quit where I want to be, but I'm working on it.
I believe if more women would take time for themselves by exercising and by asking their doctor more questions about CVD, it would not only help them but their families as well.
