Blog #13

I think it is a sign of strength for a woman to admit she has a problem with drugs and alcohol. A lot of women won’t own up to it. They deny it or put it on someone else. I think that is the first step for them to get help. It takes a lot of courage to seek help. I wouldn’t feel embarrassed, but proud of myself if I ever had a drug or alcohol problem and made the choice to admit it and get help. You know when she is ready to get help when she realizes she has a problem, and tells you about it. She is reaching out. I would help her. Wouldn’t you?

  1. Yes I would definity help! I know that it is the hardest thing to do to admit to an addiction but it is the most courageous thing they can do. So many people don't own up to their addictions because they are afraid of rehabilitation or they are just ignorant to the fact they have a problem. This is a very sad situation. They not only are hurting themselves but everyone around them.

  2. I agree that admitting the problem is the first step and the hardest part of recovery. I would definately help someone who truly wanted to overcome their addiction. Great response!

  3. I completely agree with you, but that is not the way they think. You just hae to show your support and let them know you are there for them, no matter what. It is hard to admit that you have a problem and some times it just take time, then there are other who have to hit rock bottom before they realize they have a problem!
