Blog #14

A woman should never be out at night by herself. If she has to she should have 911 on speed dial on her cell phone. She should also take a self defense class. If she lives in the type of neighborhood I do, she might want to have a small hang gun and license to carry it. I am not a big gun person, but if I have to protect myself with it, I will. I go to crime watch meetings in my apartment complex. It always helps to know what is going on in your area. I always try to stay one step ahead of everybody else. If I feel uncomfortable some where I ask my husband to accompany me. Sometimes being with someone else deters criminals. If it is domestic violence assault, them the woman should just leave the house if she feels like would get hurt. If she is with someone who would hurt her, then she needs to get help.

  1. Being informed is a great step in keeping yourself safe. I have read that looking confidenet when you are walking alone is a great deterant as well. I also would like to take a self defense class. I took kickboxing and that makes me feel a little more confortable. The unfortunate part of the domestic violence is that women feel like it is their fault. They also have low to no self esteem. It's hard to see it from our eyes when the answer is so simple.

  2. I aswell have taken a self defense class. I feel I really benefited from the class. I also take kickboxing classes which really teaches self defense aswell. I would advise all women to take a course. I think its great that you go to crimewatch meetings. Education is the key to prevention. What you learn at these meetings will provide you will knowledge that can be passed on to many others. Great Post.
